Fueled by people...

Majestic Okanagan

August 11, 2016 By Caleb Block

Caleb Block is a local outdoorsman and hunter. Here is a short list of a few of his favourite areas for outdoor recreation!

One of his favourite locations is the Hydraulic lake / McCulloch lake area.

This is a provincial campground, with clean lots and easy access to outhouse facilities. It offers pristine lakeside camping, with beautiful views and easy boat access.

Hydraulic Lake is stocked with rainbow trout, often reaching up to 5lbs.
Given its location, it is also a great camping location for local hunters. The mountain area is great for large Mule and Whitetail deer.

Another great local spot is Browne Lake.

Browne Lake is about 2km past the McCulloch lake turn off. It is great for recreational activities, including camping, fishing, and hiking.

Browne Lake Provincial Park offers free camping, with clean sites and outhouse facilities. Hunting is only allowed at the north end of lake, and fishing is only open from May through November.

Bear Creek is also a great outdoor spot to check out.

Bear Creek is located approximately 8.5km down Westside Rd. This is an area which is popular with ATV and motocross riders.

If you enjoy hiking, there are a few spectacular spots to enjoy! Christie Falls is about a 30min drive down Bear Creek FSR to the trail head.

It’s a short and slightly difficult hike down to the base of the falls, but worth every second of the trip. With its crystal clear water, the Falls are a great stop for lunch, or just to cool off from the mid-summer heat.

These are just a few of the beautiful locations the Okanagan has to offer!

There is something for everybody to enjoy, take a moment, and go play outside.
